About Jackie Hawken
After obtaining a Masters degree in clinical psychology and a career in the World Health Organisation, I qualified as a solicitor, a life coach, and in the use of cognitive behavioural therapy and neuro-linguistic programming as well as in other therapies and techniques.
As a Buddhist motivated to help people, I realised that a proven way for people to free themselves from their ‘washing-machine minds’ was with the incredible power of meditation and self-compassion: I began to use this with my clients and teach it in my workshops.
EQUANALTA (which I define as “high balance”) therefore evolved over many years of study and personal development. I have a particular interest in helping those who wish to overcome stress and depression, because, following episodes of bullying in my life, I struggled with low self-esteem. With the tools at my disposal, I pulled myself out of a ‘victim’ mentality, realising that my life experience could be of use in helping others in similar situations.
Since that time I have gone from strength to strength, as have my clients who appreciate working with someone who knows what it is like to experience self-doubt and fear. As a professional woman, I understand the stresses and strains placed on those who ‘should’ be able to cope with their working environment but find themselves feeling isolated and alone, ashamed of their negative feelings
I offer one to one consultations in my treatment room in Bristol, by telephone, by e-mail, at clients’ homes and places of work in any combination to suit.
My workshops and courses run throughout the year.
