I really wanted to talk more over the past few days, but everything seems to be moving so fast. The most notable thing that happened last week was the SportsAid Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Thursday night. Ben, my partner, had several of his sculptures there and someone bid £4,250 for him to produce a sculpture fragment of Christine Ohuruogu. Bradley Wiggins was there and was very funny on stage. The highlight for me was seeing an old school friend – Jim Julyan – who I haven’t seen in 40 years! Julie Jones, our other school friend (2 JJs, what can that mean?) owns her own magazine ‘This is London’ and was there also. The wine flowed – a lot of it our way, leading to monumental hangovers for us all the next day.
Ben and I got back to Bristol at 4 a.m. – London isn’t that far from Bristol – but Friday was a bit of a wipe-out as I felt so tired.
Since then there has been lots of dog walking and paperwork – the former so much more fun than the latter. Equanalta is taking up a lot of my time and I never stop thinking of ways to improve it.
When you run your own business you realise just how much more work it can be than being employed – often for less financial reward, but there is something to be said for being your own boss!
